Albany rallies to beat Stony Brook, 17-15, in America East Tournament semifinals

Miles and Lyle Thompson, who are brothers, and Ty Thompson, their cousin, totaled nine goals, eight assists and 31 shots last night as Albany rallied from a five-goal deficit -- and overcame a seven-goal effort by freshman Brody Eastwood -- to defeat the Stony Brook men's lacrosse team,, 17-15, in an America East Tournament semifinal at LaValle Stadium.
The Seawolves took leads of 4-1, 7-2, 8-3, 9-6, 10-7 and 11-9 before Albany went ahead 12-11 on a goal by Tim Cox with 4:16 left in the third quarter.
Challen Rogers and Chris Hughes scored early in the fourth quarter to give Stony Brook a 14-12 lead, and Eastwood's goal with 7:33 remaining made it 15-14. But after Ty Thompson scored his 48th goal of the season 32 seconds later, Ryan Feuerstein gave Albany the lead with 3:12 left and Will Fuller made it 17-15 with 2:20 remaining.
Jeff Tundo had two goals and three assists and Mike Rooney had a goal and six assists for Stony Brook. Hughes also scored two goals.
Ty Thompson had four goals and an assist, Lyle Thompson added three goals and three assists and Miles Thompson had two goals and four assists for Albany. Ryan Feuerstein, Tim Cox and Will Fuller also had two goals each.
